On the 2nd February, Llanos celebrated its first Candlemas service as part of the Presentation of Christ at the Temple. Candles were lit from the altar candles during the first hymn and then presented at the altar as the hymn ended. We enjoyed a lovely Eucharist service and sermon with Father Alan and we were going to process out of church at the end of the last hymn, having collected our candles. But we discovered we need longer candles! They burned down too quickly and John Smith had to act smartly and get the trays out before the whole lot caught fire! Certainly the Refining fire we read about was stronger than we thought! But undeterred, the service was enjoyed by all and will become a regular part of our worship, with larger candles of course!"
