Food for Thought - 13th January 2023
Over the last few years a close relationship has built up between our own church in Aljambra and the “AGUAVIVA” Evangelical Church in Albox, which caters primarily for a community of Peruvian Christians living in the area. This developed into food donations being made at each monthly service held at Aljambra being passed on to them. The idea grew in Aljambra to see if we could support them further based on “Operation Christmas Child” with people filling shoe boxes with gifts suitable for children including a small toy, pencils, and exercise books. In the last few months the provision of food for families has become increasingly difficult and it was decided that the shoe box idea be modified into two parts. Firstly an individual gift for each of the seventeen children at “Aguaviva” including a toy, chocolate Father Christmas and a bag of sweets. Secondly a “shoe box” for each family filled with a collection of the basic food items traditionally used for their 5th January evening meal. These were delivered quietly to the “Aguaviva” church in Albox on 3rd January. As you can see the gifts were gratefully received and we plan to further develop this idea next year.
Walk4Life - 29th April 2023
Well dear friends, Team Llanos smashed it! We all completed the Walk For Life. Some 3k and some 6k. With temperatures over 35 and high humidity, we all deserved our medals!
Our team alone raised nearly €1000 for this amazing charity.
The 2023 Chaplaincy AGM was attended 27 people. It was lovely to see people from all 3 churches come together with the future of the Chaplaincy in mind. The meeting included the voting in of Janis Matheson as the new Chaplaincy Warden. Thanks were given to Pam Carter for her 10 years service in this role. Pam will continue as Presidente Legal and Mojacar's Church Rep.
